Goalkeeper, Czech national ice-hockey team
The birth of a child is always a miracle, which is most evident to first-time parents. Twenty-eight-year-old ice hockey goalkeeper Jakub Kovář experienced the same feeling for himself.
On 21 June 2016, his wife gave birth to their son in Písek and the Czech national goalkeeper became a father for the first time. Besides the amazing doctors and nurses, after his birth, their son was also watched by a Nanny breathing monitor, which they purchased to watch over their little treasure when sleeping at home.
"I feel the birth of our son is a great miracle, and I that I have to return it somehow," says Kovář. That's why he went to ask the senior consultant how he could specifically help the hospital, where he learned that the department needed Nanny breathing monitors for all the babies. More than 900 children are born at the Písek maternity hospital every year and many require special care.
As a new father, he liked the idea very much, and decided to give the maternity hospital twelve Nanny breathing monitors as a sponsorship gift. "Nanny thus watches over every baby and their moms can rest easier. What’s more, it will also make work easier for the nurses," says Kovář, adding: "I'm hoping the monitors will work well, give everyone peace of mind, and that they never have to trigger an alarm."
