If you are breastfeeding, try not to consume flatulent foods (e.g. fresh pastries, flatulent vegetables - broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, but also e.g. peppers, chocolate, fizzy drinks…). Furthermore, let the baby burp properly after each feeding, do not overfeed it. After burping, you can put the baby in the “tiger in the tree” position - he lies with his stomach on your forearm, legs and arms free, the head rests on your elbow crease. Or put him in the “cradle” position - lean its back against your chest and crouch and gently pull its legs towards the abdomen. You can give it a gentle massage of the abdomen in a circular motion in a clockwise direction - not immediately after a meal, so that your baby does not start vomiting. You can also use over-the-counter probiotic products - e.g. Biogaia, Biopron Junior, Espumisan.

You must check that you have given a sufficient dose of the anti-fever medicine for your child's weight. You can also alternate the medicine with Paracetamol (e.g Paralen) or Ibuprofen (e.g. Nurofen, Ibalgin) every 4 hours. Use a lukewarm shower or cold packs to further reduce fever. If the fever persists, see a doctor. Dosage of drugs according to the child’s weight: - Paracetamol - 50mg/kg/day in 3-4 doses (every 6-8 hours) - Ibuprofen 30mg/kg/day in 3 doses (every 8 hours) E.g. child weighing 10 kg: - Either Paracetamol 150mg per dose - or Ibuprofen 100mg per dose.

Just before breastfeeding, warm up your breasts, either in the shower or put on a compress and then squeeze out some milk by hand. You can then breastfeed.

Give him an antipyretic (to reduce fever), Paracetamol (e.g. Paralen) or Ibuprofen (e.g. Nurofen, Ibalgin) in the form of a suppository rectally (into his bottom) at a dose corresponding to the child's weight. You can further reduce a fever by showering with lukewarm water or using wraps.
